Elevation Smoothing

by admin on January 18, 2010

Apologies for a long hiatus. I spent a good part of 2009 writing a book related to my day job, and had to give up cycling for most of the second half of 2009. I am back again, picking up things from where I left off in 2009.

Here are two new features:

  • Elevation smoothing, to further reduce noise in samples: After experimenting with the SRTM data, I found that SRTM’s sampling frequency is too sparse, particularly when the route is not along latitude or longitude lines. In some cases, the results were super inflated. Consequently, I settled on a low-pass filter.
  • Cadence: If your Garmin has a cadence sensor, you should be able to see cadence charts now.

Is this website still active? No blog post in months! Would be really useful and cool if cyclogz had an iPhone app.

This site is very much live sans the blog. There some features coming up in the pipeline. iPhone app is the third in the list.
